Girl in the Year Above is an Irish/Cornish indie band fronted by Jennifer Bell. Prior to releasing any recorded material, the group built an early following exclusively through live performances. They opened for Seb Lowe and joined Razorlight on the road as a support act, including a date at Concorde 2 in Brighton in December 2025. Their recorded debut came via an invitation from Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man soundtrack composers Antony Genn and Martin Slattery, who selected the band to contribute a cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop" to the Netflix film's official soundtrack, released via RCA Records in March 2026 alongside contributions from Fontaines D.C.'s Grian Chatten, Nick Cave, and Lankum. The band released their first original single, "Mama, My Heart Is Achin'," in March 2026, teased as an end-of-tour surprise before its official release.
