Frankie & The Heartstrings is an English indie rock band formed in Sunderland, England, in December 2008 by vocalist Frankie Francis, guitarist Michael McKnight, and drummer Dave Harper. The groupâs debut release was the live EP 12.09.09 in November 2009, followed by the double A-side single âHunger / Fragileâ on Rough Trade Records. The band signed with Pop Sex Ltd and Wichita Recordings to release the debut studio album Hunger, which debuted at number 32 on the UK Albums Chart on February 21, 2011. Subsequent album releases include The Days Run Away, which was released on June 3, 2013, alongside their record store Pop Recs Ltd. in Sunderland, and Decency, released on July 10, 2015, featuring guitarist Ross Millard. The bandâs career includes supporting tours with Florence & The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs, the Vaccines, and the Charlatans. Harper died on August 25, 2021.
