Frank Ticheli, born January 21, 1958 in Monroe, Louisiana, is an American composer known for his orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band works. He earned degrees from Southern Methodist University and the University of Michigan. Ticheli began his career at Trinity University and served as composer-in-residence with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra from 1991 to 1998. In 1991, he became a Professor of Composition at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. Notable works include "Angels in the Architecture" (2011) and "An American Elegy" (2011), which became standards in concert band repertoire. Ticheli has also received numerous awards, including the Arts and Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Band Association/Revelli Memorial Prize.
