Emerald Castle, a rock band formed in 1997 in the Republic of Korea, debuted under the production of Shin Haechul and Kim Young-seok with the track "Footsteps" from their first album Invitation. The group quickly established a distinct sound that blended melodic hooks with driving guitar work, leading to the release of Circle in 2000 and Dual Minded in 2001. Throughout the 2000s, Emerald Castle maintained a steady output, issuing the single "Dear" in 2016, followed by "Promise" and "Summer Fantastic" in 2017, and the single "Gazangga ê°ì¥ê° (å®¶é·æ)" in 2019. The band toured extensively across Asia, supporting larger acts and headlining domestic festivals, while collaborating with notable Korean producers and musicians. Their catalog has consistently charted within the top tiers of the Korean rock charts, with "Footsteps" securing a high placement on the national singles list in 1997. Emerald Castle received several industry recognitions for their contributions to Korean rock, including a nomination for Best Rock Album at the Korean Music Awards in 2001. The track "Footsteps" within their first album Invitation (1997) entered Melon's Top 100 Rock/Metal songs MelOn chart at rank 98 on the week of January 19, 2026.
