Biography

The Cross, a British rock band formed in 1987 by Queen drummer Roger Taylor, emerged during a hiatus from Queen following their Magic Tour. The band initially featured Taylor on rhythm guitar and vocals, alongside guitarist Clayton Moss, bassist Peter Noone, drummer Josh Macrae, and keyboardist Spike Edney. Their debut album, Shove It, was released in 1988 on Virgin Records and included the singles "Cowboys and Indians", "Heaven for Everyone" (featuring Freddie Mercury), and "Shove It". The band toured extensively in support of the album, particularly in Germany. In 1989, Taylor took a break to work on Queen's The Miracle album before returning with The Cross to record their second album, 1990's Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know. This album featured the singles "Final Destination", "Liar", and "Power To Love". Their third and final album, Blue Rock, was released in 1991 exclusively in Germany. Despite moderate success in Germany, The Cross disbanded in 1993. Notably, "Heaven for Everyone" was re-released by the remaining members of Queen on their 1995 album Made in Heaven and became a major hit in several countries.
