Biography

Wiretap In My Ear is a South Korean rock band formed in 1996, known for its evolution in both style and name over the years. Initially called Prana for potential overseas expansion, the band later adopted the name Listening Device in My Ear before settling on Wiretap In My Ear. The group originally consisted of four members: Park Sang-wook (vocals and guitar), Woojin Kim (guitar), Kim Myung-won (bass), and Jeon Yoon-woo (drums). Their debut album, Wiretap In My Ear (2001), introduced their alternative rock style, with notable tracks like "E-Mail" and "Mother." The band gained recognition in Korea, particularly through the hit song "E-Mail" and the FIFA Online game insert song "Power." Despite their success, Wiretap In My Ear is perhaps equally famous for their distinctive visual style, influenced by British glam rock, with elaborate costumes and makeup often overshadowing their musical identity. However, the band has denied that their visuals define them, instead highlighting their musical focus. Over the years, they have released several albums, including Prana (2004), Shine (2006), Observation (2010), and Cumulus (2014). Their music evolved, incorporating elements from glam rock to alternative and electronic styles. Their 2017 single "Deconstruction" marked another phase of experimentation.
