Biography

One of the best-known singers in South Korean rock music, Kim Kyung-ho was born in Mokpo on born June 7, 1971. He began competing in singing competitions as a teenager and released his self-titled debut album, Kim Kyung-ho, in 1995. Although the record fared poorly on the South Korean charts, Kyung-ho broke into the mainstream with his follow-up release, Kim:kyungho 1997, which featured the Number 1 song "People Who Make Me Sorrow." One of the year's biggest releases, "People Who Make Me Sorrow" received the "Bonsang Album" award from both the Golden Disk Awards and the Seoul Music Awards. One year later, "My Love Even in the Heavens" received the same pair of awards. With his multi-octave vocals, Kyung-ho spent several more years charting hits with a mix of ballads and rock anthems, including "Heartless," "Forbidden Love," "Though I Love You," and "Father." Health challenges stalled his career during the 2000s, but he returned to the public eye thanks to popular appearance on I Am a Singer in 2011. After a long break from the recording studio, he completed a new release, The Rocker, in 2024. The album was released that same year, reaching number 67 in South Korea.
