Biography

Yarn, born Minwook Lee on June 23, 1972, in Daegu, South Korea, is a Korean singer renowned for his unique style and rock-inspired ballads. He first gained attention in the late 1990s, debuting in 1997 by performing a drama theme song and later joining the group Mr.2 in 1998. Yarn officially launched his solo career with the 2000 album Virgin, building a dedicated fanbase through live performances despite limited public recognition. His third album, Another Story (2003), received critical acclaim, with songs like "So You" and "Mind" gaining popularity. Influenced by 1980s metal, Yarn's music blends rock with softer ballad elements. A distinctive moment in his early career involved performing with a parrot, named Yan, perched on his shoulder, adding to his enigmatic stage persona. Despite his growing success, Yarn faced challenges, including health issues that led to a practical retirement. Speculations about his life include studies in theology and a potential pivot toward music production, though these remain unconfirmed. His discography includes notable albums such as Yarn II Story (2003) and the single album Love Is (2009).
