Catherine Saint Jude Pretorius, known professionally as Dope Saint Jude, was born on April 11, 1990, in Cape Town, South Africa, and grew up in Elsies River. She began her career in 2011 performing as Saint Dude, a drag king, and founded South Africa's first documented drag king troupe. In 2013, she transitioned to a solo music career. She released the song "Keep In Touch" featuring Angel-Ho in 2015. Her debut EP Reimagine was self-produced and released in 2016. Dope Saint Jude collaborated with M.I.A. for H&Mâs awareness-raising campaign video for World Recycle Week in 2016. She performed at notable events such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival and Afropunk Festival Johannesburg. Her second EP Resilient was released in 2018, featuring the lead single "Grrrl Like", which gained significant traction through its use in various media projects. In 2022, she released her third EP Higher Self.
