Biography
Denzil, a British rock/power pop band from Bournemouth, England, was formed in 1990 around singer-songwriter Denzil Thomas. Initially playing at folk clubs, Thomas met producer and bassist Steve Ennever, leading to the release of their first cassette, A Tape Called Denzil, in 1990. The band's lineup solidified with drummer Andy Place, guitarist Craig Boyd, and Jeremy Stacey also on drums. They signed with Giant Records in the US and released their debut album, Pub, in 1994, featuring the single "Useless". Despite initial success, internal conflicts and label issues hindered further support. By October 1994, financial troubles at Play Records and frictions within the band led to Ennever's departure. Denzil toured the UK in January 1995 but faced difficulties securing a record deal. In 1997, Thomas transitioned full-time into the music industry, effectively disbanding Denzil.
