Damian Gerard Baker, known professionally as Damian, is an English pop musician born on September 30, 1964. He began his music career in the late 1980s and gained initial recognition with his first single "Adios - My Love" released in 1983. His breakthrough came with a cover version of "The Time Warp", originally from The Rocky Horror Show, which he initially released in 1987. Produced by Des Tong from Sad Café, this version featured backing vocals from Sheila Gott, Jean Barrow, Ian Wilson, and Steve Butler. Despite initial releases in 1987 and a reissue in 1988 failing to chart within the UK Top 40, Damian's career took off when Pete Hammond remixed and restructured "The Time Warp", leading it to reach number 7 on the UK Singles Chart in 1989. Following this success, his next single "Wig Wam Bam" reached number 49 on the same chart. In 1989, Damian released his debut album The Time Warp, and a year later he released an EP titled Supernature. Damian passed away on February 12, 2017, at the age of 52 following a three-year battle with cancer.
