Compton's Most Wanted, an American gangsta rap group from Compton, California, became active in 1987 with leaders MC Eiht and Tha Chill. The duo initially gained attention with demo tapes recorded in their Compton neighborhood. Their breakthrough came in 1988 when they released "Rhymes To Funky" on the compilation album Sound Control Mob - Under Investigation. Compton's Most Wanted later signed to Orpheus Records and released their debut album, It's a Compton Thang, in 1990, which featured the hit single "One Time Gaffled Em Up". Their third album, Music to Driveby, released in 1992, was their most successful, peaking at number 66 on the U.S. charts and featuring the single "Hood Took Me Under", which reached number 5.
