Biography
Causes was a Dutch indie pop band from Utrecht formed in 2013, consisting of British singer and songwriter Rupert Blackman on vocals and guitar, Jan Schröder on guitar, Simon Boeing-Messing on drums, and Robert Pronk on bass. The group originated when Blackman moved to Amsterdam from the UK and began busking on the streets, quickly gaining local interest with his homemade CDs. In 2014, Causes released their debut single, "Teach Me How to Dance with You", which achieved immediate success in Benelux, earning Platinum status and significant radio play. The band's second single, "Walk on Water" (2015), further solidified their popularity. Their first full-length album, Under Bridges That You Built for Me, was produced by Ian Grimble and released in 2016 through RCA and PIAS. They released their second album, Wake Me Up So I Can Dream, in 2018. In 2019, Causes announced their dissolution.
