Buddy & Julie Miller, an American duo from the United States of America, began their musical journey as husband and wife singer-songwriters. Before releasing any official material together, they appeared on each other's solo recordings. Their debut album Buddy & Julie Miller was released in 2001, marking a shift towards rock-based Americana music compared to their earlier folk recordings. The album featured songs penned by Julie Miller and co-writes with Buddy Miller, including "Dirty Water". It received critical acclaim and won Album of the Year at the first annual awards of the Americana Music Association in 2001.
