Biography
Bobby Olen Pinson was born on Augustâ¯10â¯1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grew up in Panhandle, Texas, where he began songwriting while playing highâschool football; after serving three years in the United States Army, he moved to Nashville in 1996 and signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, where his compositions were recorded by Blake Shelton, Marty Stuart and LeAnn Rimes. Pinsonâs breakthrough as a performer came in 2005 when he signed with RCA Nashville and released the single "Don't Ask Me How I Know", which peaked at Number 16 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart; the same year the album Man Like Me followed, and a second single, "Way Down", reached Number 58. After departing RCA later that year, he reâissued the independent album I Mean Business (2005) and released Songs for Somebody in 2007 on an independent label, both featuring his own renditions of earlier hits. Throughout his career Pinson wrote for other artists, earning four Number One hits for Toby Keith and four for Sugarland, and coâauthored songs for artists such as Eric Church, Brooks & Dunn, and Aaron Lewis. His songwriting credits include the 2006 Sugarland Number One "Want To" and the 2009 Brooks & Dunn single "Honky Tonk Stomp", cementing his status as a prolific contributor to contemporary country music.
