Beaumont Hannant is a British DJ, musician, and producer who was born in York, England, in 1970. He achieved early professional recognition in 1986 as a hip-hop and electro DJ and is famous for his ambient techno studio recordings and for being named one of "The Faces of '94" by Select magazine. Hannant released several solo recordings on the General Production Recordings label, including the EPs Tastes and Textures, Vol. 1 (1993) and Basic Data Manipulation (1993). His discography includes the studio recording Texturology (1994), which reached number 3 on the independent album chart. His work has been utilized in theatrical productions, including a presentation of the play The Traitor. Hannant has provided remixes for artists including Autechre, Björk, and Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and he managed the ensemble Shed Seven. In 1996, he co-founded the trip-hop duo Outcast alongside Richard Brown.
