Biography

Baton Rouge was an American hard rock band formed in 1986 in Pearl River, Louisiana. The original lineup included Lance Bulen on vocals, Kelly Keeling on guitars and keyboards, Keith Harrison on bass, and Harold Knappenberger on drums. After several name changes, they settled on Baton Rouge at the suggestion of Ahmet Ertegun. In 1987, the band relocated to Los Angeles and underwent personnel changes, with Keeling taking over as frontman. They signed with Atlantic Records in 1989 and released their debut album Shake Your Soul in 1990, which peaked at number 160 in the U.S. charts. The band's second album, Lights Out on the Playground, was released in 1991 but did not chart. Following Keeling's departure to join Blue Murder, Baton Rouge disbanded in 1991. In 2009, the original lineup reunited for a performance at the Rocklahoma festival, though no permanent reunion followed.
