Biography

Artch is a Norwegian power metal band from Sarpsborg, founded in 1983 by guitarist Cato André Olsen and bassist Bernt Jansen. The group initially included guitarist Geir Nilssen, vocalist Lars Fladeby, and drummer Jørn Jamissen, who joined in 1984. Artch released their debut album Another Return in 1988. The band signed a five-album contract with Metal Blade Records and embarked on tours across Norway and Iceland. Their second album, For the Sake of Mankind, was released in 1991 but saw limited distribution outside the USA, Japan, and Norway. Artch disbanded in 1991, but reunited again in 2000. In 2001, both albums were remastered and re-released by Metal Blade Records, marking a notable recognition of their work. The band also performed at Wacken Open Air that year.
