Biography
Anna Meredith, born Anna Howard Meredith on January 12, 1978, in Tufnell Park, North London, is a Scottish composer and performer of electronic and acoustic music. She moved to South Queensferry, Scotland at the age of two and earned her degree in music from the University of York. Meredith gained early recognition through her work for the 2008 BBC Last Night of the Proms. She released her debut EP Black Prince Fury in 2012 on Moshi Moshi Records, followed by another EP, Jet Black Raider, in 2013. Her first studio album, Varmints, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim, winning the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Meredith produced soundtracks for films like Eighth Grade (2018) and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2019.
