Biography

And So I Watch You from Afar is a Northern Irish instrumental rock ensemble from Belfast established in 2005. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by post-rock, experimental rock, and math rock and for their reputation for energetic performances. The ensemble was founded by guitarist Rory Friers, guitarist Tony Wright, bassist Jonathan Adger, and drummer Chris Wee. Their recording career began with the debut eponymous studio recording And So I Watch You from Afar (2009) released on the label Smalltown America. They achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Gangs (2011) which reached number 28 in Ireland and the addition of the guitarist Niall Kennedy who replaced Wright in 2011. Their discography included the studio recording All Hail Bright Futures (2013) which reached number 81 in Ireland, and the studio recording Heirs (2015) which reached number 97 in Ireland. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Sargent House and releasing the studio recording Jettison (2022) featuring spoken word by Emma Ruth Rundle and Neil Fallon. Their recording career included the studio recording Megafauna (2024).
