Biography

Garrett âG. Loveâ Dutton met drummer Jeffrey Clemens in 1993, and the trio formed G. Love & Special Sauce, adding bassist Jim Prescott shortly thereafter. The bandâs breakthrough came with the 1994 single "Cold Beverage" from their selfâtitled debut G. Love and Special Sauce, which received significant MTV rotation and brought the group close to gold certification. In 1995 the duo released Coast to Coast Motel, followed by Yeah, Itâs That Easy in 1997, which highlighted collaborations with artists such as Dr.â¯John. The 1999 release Philadelphonic and the 2001 album Electric Mile expanded their sound to include hipâhop, funk, and psychedelia. G. Love & Special Sauce toured extensively, including the H.O.R.D.E. tour and a house band role on Comedy Centralâs Turn Ben Stein On. The 2008 album Superhero Brother and the 2014 release Sugar continued their chart presence, with Sugar reaching Number 49 on the US Billboard 200. In 2015 the band issued Love Saves the Day, and in 2022 they released Philadelphia Mississippi. The groupâs catalog remains influential in blending blues, hipâhop, and rock, with several singles such as "Rodeo Clowns" and "Babyâs Got Sauce" achieving notable airplay.
