Biography

Amy Helm, born December 3, 1970 in Woodstock, New York, is an American singer-songwriter. She began her musical journey studying jazz and performing in local bands during high school. In 1999, she joined her father Levon Helm's blues band The Barn Burners. Helm co-founded the alt-country ensemble Ollabelle in 2001, which released the albums Olabelle (2004), Riverside Battle Songs (2006), and Neon Blue Bird (2011). She helped establish the Midnight Ramble concerts at her father's home in 2004. Helm produced Levon Helm's Grammy-winning albums Dirt Farmer (2007) and Electric Dirt (2009). Her debut solo album, Didn’t It Rain, was released in 2015, featuring her father’s last recorded drum performances. Helm's second album, This Too Shall Light, was released in 2018 on Yep Roc Records.
