Biography

Dustry Stray is the pseudonym of Jonathan Brown, an American folk singer, songwriter and musician based in the Netherlands. The son of a Presbyterian minister, he was born in Taiwan and grew up in Texas, before settling in Amsterdam. He discovered folk music as a teenager during his university studies, exploring the genre's origins before launching his solo career. Author of the albums Tales of Misfortune and Woe (2009), Light Years Away (2011), Family Album (2013), A Tree Fell and Other Songs (2015), Estranged (2018) and Fire Place (2023), he collaborated with Xan Tyler on the next, Home, released in 2025.
