Biography
Zion is the stage name of Félix Gerardo Ortiz Torres, born August 5, 1981, in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He emerged in the early 2000s as one half of Zion & Lennox with Gabriel Pizarro, helping define a melodic, less aggressive branch of reggaeton through early tracks and their 2004 debut album Motivando a la Yal, which included âDoncella,â âBandida,â and âYo Voy.â After the duo paused in 2006, Zion launched his solo career with singles including âAlócate,â âFantasma,â âThe Way She Movesâ with Akon, and âZun Da Da,â all leading to his 2007 debut album The Perfect Melody, which reached number 2 on Billboardâs Top Latin Albums chart. Zion & Lennox later reunited for Los Verdaderos (2010), Motivan2 (2016), which topped Billboardâs Top Latin Albums chart, and El Sistema (2021), while also appearing on major collaborations such as Enrique Iglesiasâ 2017 hit âSúbeme la Radio.â In 2024, Zion announced the professional separation of Zion & Lennox and refocused on solo work. He returned with The Perfect Melody II - Chapter I (2025), featuring âEN LA DE ELLAâ with Bad Gyal, then followed with The Perfect Melody II - Chapter II (2026), which included collaborations with J Balvin and Chencho Corleone. In 2026, he also appeared on Saikoâs âEllaEllaâ with Yapi.
