Biography

R.K.M & Ken-Y are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo formed in 2003 by José Nieves and Kenny Rubén Vázquez. After playing their first gigs in local parties and clubs, they were discovered by Plan B's Chencho Corleone, who helped them secure a deal with Money Machine Records. Following the success of the 2003 singles "Una Noche Más" and "Quiero Verte Bailando y Sudando," included in the compilations Warriors 4: Los 14 Guerreros and Ground Zero, R.K.M & Ken-Y signed with Pina Records in 2004. Preceded by the single "Down," which managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, their first studio full-length Masterpiece appeared in 2006 and received nominations for the Lo Nuestro and Billboard Latino Awards. That same year, the group guested on the fifth installment of producer Alex Gargola's Gargolas series, contributing vocals to the track "Un Sueño." A second LP, The Royalty/La Realeza, saw the light in 2008 and featured guest spots from heavyweights like Plan B, Don Omar, and Héctor Acosta. The group would deliver one more album, 2011's Forever, before parting ways in 2013. A few years later, they reconvened on Árcangel and De La Ghetto's 2017 single "Más Que Ayer" and formally announced their comeback in 2018 through a feature on Natti Natasha's "Tonta." Destiny, their fourth LP, was scheduled to appear in 2020 but was eventually shelved.
