German rapper Fatima Napo, known professionally as Young Deenay, was born on 14 January 1979 in Bandiagara, Mali and attended the Graf-Gottfried-Gymnasium (now Franz-Stock-Gymnasium) in Arnsberg, Germany. Her career began with her debut single "Walk On By" released in 1997, which held a chart position of five for 14 weeks. Her early breakthrough continued with the release of her single "Wannabe Your Lover" in March 1998, further propelling Young Deenay into the spotlight. Her debut album, Birth, also arrived that year. During this period, she also collaborated with Sasha, who was then a background singer on "Wannabe Your Lover", helping him launch his solo career.
