Biography

JDS was a British breakbeat duo comprising Julian Napolitano and Darren Pearce, active primarily from the mid-1990s to 2008. The pair emerged on the UK dance scene with "Nine Ways," a 1997 club and Ibiza anthem that reached number 4 on the UK Dance Chart and became their signature release. They followed with "London Town," which entered the UK Singles Chart in 1998, while a 2001 remix of "Nine Ways" also charted. Their track "Destiny Calls" was later cited by Muzik magazine as one of the dancefloor highlights of the era. In 2005, JDS released its only album, The Adventures of the Purple Funky Monkey, blending breakbeat with hip hop, funk, electro, house, punk, and rock. The album received positive reviews, and tracks were championed by DJs including Fatboy Slim and Laurent Garnier.
