Words of Farewell, a death metal band from Münster and the northern Ruhrgebiet in Germany, was formed in early 2007. The group released their first EP, Ashes of the Coming Dawn, just four months after formation, followed by the demo From Now On... in 2009. Their debut album, Immersion, was recorded from June to December 2010 and released in March 2012 via AFM Records, receiving positive reviews for its advanced songwriting and melodic elements. The band's second studio album, The Black Wild Yonder, was produced from June to December 2013 and released in February 2014. Their third album, A Quiet World, followed in November 2016, also via AFM Records. In March 2020, Words of Farewell released the EP Inner Universe. They signed with Seek & Strike in July 2021 and released Inner Universe II that September. Their most recent album is the EP Stories to Forget, released in 2024.
