Biography
Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2021, The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed by Mikael Stanne (lead vocals), Niclas Engelin (lead guitar), Jesper Strömblad (guitar), Peter Iwers (bass), and Daniel Svensson (drums); former members of Swedish metal band In Flames. The Halo Effect came about during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the group wanting to recreate the iconic 1990s âGothenburg soundâ, widely considered the genesis of the melodic death metal genre. On November 9, 2021, the band released the single âShadowmindsâ, followed by 2022 singles including âFeel What I Believeâ, âDays of the Lostâ, âThe Needless Endâ and âIn Broken Trustâ from their debut studio ten-track album Days of the Lost on August 12, 2022. The album entered the Swedish charts at number 1 and peaked in top 10 chart positions throughout UK and Europe.
