Wilton Place Street Band is an American disco group formed in Los Angeles, California, composed of studio musicians assembled by record producer Trevor Lawrence. The band's purpose was to create an instrumental disco cover version of the theme tune from I Love Lucy. Their debut single "Disco Lucy" was released on Island Records in 1977 and quickly gained traction, peaking at number 7 on the U.S. Club Play chart, and Number 24 on the Top 40. The song also charted in Australia, showcasing its international appeal. Following the success of "Disco Lucy", Wilton Place Street Band released two additional singles: "Sweet, Sweet Baby Love" and "Gonna Have a Party". Trevor Lawrence's extensive musical background, including performances with the Butterfield Blues Band at Woodstock and contributions to albums by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and the Isley Brothers, played a pivotal role in the band's formation and success. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Wilton Place Street Band left a notable mark on the disco era with their distinctive cover of "Disco Lucy".
