Biography

Midnight Star, a funk group from the United States of America, was formed in 1976 by brothers Reginald Calloway and Vincent Calloway. The band initially gained traction with their first two albums, The Beginning (1980) and Standing Together (1981), which featured the hit single "I've Been Watching You." Their third album, Victory (1982), continued this momentum. However, it was with No Parking on the Dance Floor (1983) that Midnight Star achieved significant success in the USA, featuring notable tracks such as "Freak-A-Zoid," "Wet My Whistle," and "Electricity." The following year, they released Planetary Invasion, which showcased a more electronic sound with prominent use of synthesizers. This trend continued with Headlines (1986), which included the hit single "Midas Touch." After Reginald and Vincent Calloway left to form Calloway, Midnight Star released two more albums, Midnight Star (1988) and Work It Out (1990). Despite these releases being commercial failures, they maintained a high level of musical quality. The group then took an extended hiatus before returning in 2002 with the album 15th Avenue, which featured soul and R&B influences.
