Biography

Wildbirds & Peacedrums is a Swedish musical duo from Gothenburg that formed in 2007. The group consists of the vocalist Mariam Wallentin and the drummer Andreas Werliin, who met while studying at the Academy of Music and Drama. Their debut studio album, Heartcore, was released (2008) through Found You Recordings and earned them the Ãrets Jazz i Sverige award. They followed this with the recordings The Snake (2009), Rivers (2010), and Rhythm (2014). The ensemble achieved wider recognition in 2015 when their song âPeeling Off the Layersâ (2010) was used as the title theme for the television series Fortitude. Additionally, their track âThere Is No Lightâ (2009) was selected to soundtrack the launch of Apple Music that same year. Their musical style is characterized by a focus on voice and percussion, occasionally incorporating instruments such as the cittre and steel-pan.
