Biography
Renaldo & the Loaf, an English musical duo consisting of David "Ted the Loaf" Janssen and Brian "Renaldo Malpractice" Poole, formed in 1977. The pair met at school in 1970 and began playing guitar together, bonding over a shared love for Tyrannosaurus Rex. The duo was known for their innovative approach to music, often replicating synthesizer sounds using acoustic instruments and manipulating tape loops. In 1978, they adopted the moniker Plimsollline and released an album titled Behind Closed Curtains and EP Tap Dance In Sushi. After signing with Ralph Records in 1980, Renaldo & the Loaf released their album, Songs for Swinging Larvae (1981), which featured the controversial music video for "Spratt's Medium". Their subsequent albums include Arabic Yodelling (1983), Olleh, Olleh Rotcod (1985), and The Elbow is Taboo (1987).
