Biography

Walter Salas-Humara is an American songwriter and singer. Born in New York City, he was raised in South Florida after his family relocated to Fort Lauderdale when he was three years old. He began playing drums at age seven and later took up guitar. Salas-Humara co-founded The Silos with Bob Rupe in 1985, releasing their debut album About Her Steps the same year. The band's second album, Cuba (1987), earned them recognition in the Rolling Stone Critics Poll. Salas-Humara has also recorded several solo albums: Lagartija (1988), Radar (1995), Curve and Shake (2014), and Explodes and Disappears (2016).
