Biography

Walt Mink was an American alternative rock band from St. Paul, Minnesota, formed in 1989 by guitarist-singer John Kimbrough, drummer Joey Waronker, and bassist Candice Belanoff. Starting in the college house party scene, the trio signed with Caroline Records in June 1992 to release their debut, Miss Happiness. They toured extensively with acts like The Lemonheads and Mudhoney before releasing their second album, Bareback Ride (1993), which featured the single "Chowdertown". Waronker left in late 1993 to join Beck and was replaced by Orestes Morfin. The band signed to Columbia Records in 1993/1994, but the deal was canceled before they could release new material. Their subsequent album, El Producto, was released on Atlantic Records in 1996. Walt Mink disbanded in September 1998 following the release of their final album, Goodnite.
