Voltaire Twins are an Australian new wave band from Perth, Western Australia. The group consists of lead vocalists and synthesizer players Jaymes and Tegan Voltaire, who are siblings. They were discovered by the national youth broadcaster Triple J in 2008 after winning the Triple J Unearthed Play at Parklife competition with their song âD.I.L.â. Following this recognition, the band released a series of extended plays, including their self-titled debut in 2010, Romulus in 2011, and Apollo in 2012. The group's 2011 single, âAnimaliaâ, gained high rotation on various Australian radio stations and debuted at number 36 on the United States college radio charts. In 2012, they won the West Australian Music Industry Award for Dance/Electronic Act of the Year. Voltaire Twins have performed at international showcases such as SXSW in Austin, Texas, and supported prominent acts including Ladytron, Maxïmo Park, and Midnight Juggernauts. In 2014, the siblings relocated to Melbourne to record their first full-length album, Milky Waves, which was released in August 2015 through the label Ooragnak.
