Vio-lence is an American thrash metal ensemble from the San Francisco Bay Area established in 1985. The group consists of the musician Sean Killian. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by thrash metal. The ensemble was founded by the musicians Phil Demmel, Perry Strickland, Troy Fua, Jerry Birr, and Eddie Billy. Killian joined the group in 1986 following the departure of Birr. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Eternal Nightmare (1988) which reached number 154 in the United States and sold over 30,000 copies. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Oppressing the Masses (1990) and the song âWorld in a Worldâ (1990). Their discography included the studio recording Nothing to Gain (1993). The group became inactive in 1994 and resumed activity for performances between 2001 and 2003. They resumed activity again in 2019. Vio-lence achieved professional recognition for the extended play Let the World Burn (2022) which was their first collection of new material in nearly 30 years.
