Biography

Nuclear Assault, an American thrash metal band from New York, was formed in 1984 by bassist Dan Lilker and roadie John Connelly. The group released two demos before their debut album Game Over in April 1986. They signed with Combat Records for their first release but later moved to I.R.S. Records for Survive, released in 1988, which reached number 145 on the Billboard 200. The band's subsequent album, Handle With Care (1989), peaked at number 126 on the Billboard 200 and number 60 on the UK Albums Chart. Nuclear Assault toured extensively with notable acts like Slayer and Testament before disbanding in 1995 due to internal issues and exhaustion from constant touring. The band reformed in 2002, releasing Alive Again and later Third World Genocide (2005). Although they did not follow that with another full-length, they returned to recording with the four-song Pounder - EP (2015) and continued playing selective live dates through the following years before stepping away again in 2022.
