Biography

Nuclear Assault was an American thrash metal band formed in New York City in 1984 by bassist Dan Lilker, guitarist/vocalist John Connelly, guitarist Mike Bogush, and drummer Scott Duboys; it emerged from the East Coast scene that also produced Overkill and Anthrax, the latter having been co‑founded by Lilker before his dismissal. Their album, Game Over, released in 1986 on Combat Records, established an aggressive sound, followed by Survive in 1988, which reached number 145 on the Billboard 200. In 1989, Handle with Care peaked at number 126 on the same chart and number 60 in the UK, earning extensive touring across North America, Europe, Japan, and South America. After lineup changes and releases of Out of Order (1991) and Something Wicked (1993), the band broke up in 1995, reunited briefly in 1997, and reformed from 2001 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2022, released the studio album Third World Genocide (2005) and the EP Pounder (2015) before they announced that they had broke up again on November 20, 2022.
