Biography

D.R.I., formed on May 2, 1982 in Houston, Texas, initially consisted of Spike Cassidy, Kurt Brecht, Eric Brecht, and Dennis Johnson. The band's name came from their parents' disapproval of their loud music. Their first performance was at Joe Star's OMNI in July 1982, followed by the release of Dirty Rotten EP that November. In 1983, D.R.I. moved to San Francisco and released Dirty Rotten LP. The band's lineup evolved over time, with notable members including Felix Griffin and Rob Rampy. Their breakthrough album, Crossover, was released in 1987, marking a shift towards the crossover thrash genre. Subsequent albums included Four of a Kind (1988), which peaked at number 116 on the Billboard 200, and "Thrash Zone" (1989). D.R.I.'s last studio album was released in 1995.
