Biography
Unearthly Trance, a sludge metal/doom metal trio from Long Island, was formed in 2000 by guitarist-vocalist Ryan Lipynsky, bassist Jay Newman, and drummer Darren Verni. The band released their debut material on leading labels such as Southern Lord, Rise Above Records, and Relapse Records. Their first album, In the Red, was released in January 2004. Unearthly Trance gained critical acclaim and shared tours with notable bands including Sunn O))), Pelican, Electric Wizard, The Melvins, and Morbid Angel. They released several albums, including Season of Séance, Science of Silence (September 2005), The Trident (April 2006), Electrocution (March 2008), and V (September 2010). The band disbanded on July 6, 2012, but reunited in spring 2015. Following their reunion, they released Stalking the Ghost in 2017 and embarked on a European tour with Suma.
