Desultory was a Swedish death metal band that was active between 1989 and 2017. The ensemble was founded in Stockholm and released the demos âFrom Beyondâ (1990) and âDeath Unfoldsâ (1990). They achieved early professional momentum with the EP Forever Gone (1991) before signing with Metal Blade Records. Their debut studio album, Into Eternity, was released in 1993, followed by the studio recording Bitterness (1994). Following the departure of the guitarist Stefan Pöge, the ensemble recorded the studio album Swallow the Snake (1996) as a trio. The group briefly performed as the rock act Zebulon before returning to their original name in 2008 and releasing the studio recordings Counting Our Scars (2010) and Through Aching Aeons (2017).
