Biography

Necrophagia, an American death metal band formed in Wellsville, Ohio in 1983 by Frank "Killjoy" Pucci. The group gained early traction in the underground extreme metal scene through tape trading and released their debut album Season of the Dead in 1987. After disbanding briefly, Necrophagia reformed in 1997 with Phil Anselmo (under the pseudonym Anton Crowley) on guitar, releasing albums such as Holocausto de la Morte and Cannibal Holocaust. The band underwent several lineup changes over the years, collaborating with notable musicians like Frediablo and Mirai Kawashima. Notable releases include The Divine Art of Torture, Harvest Ritual Vol. 1, and Deathtrip 69. Frank "Killjoy" Pucci passed away in March 2018, and the band's final studio album Moribundis Grim was released in May 2024.
