Biography

Tony Marshall was born in Baden-Baden on February 3, 1938. His real name was Herbert Anton Bloeth, but he later took his mother's surname, Marshall. For decades, Tony Marshall was one of the best-known pop singers in the German-speaking world. He began his musical career after studying classical singing at the Karlsruhe University of Music. His breakthrough came in 1971 with the single "Schöne Maid", which made it into the charts in Germany and internationally. The song reached number 1 in South Africa and number 3 in Germany. Other well-known titles followed, such as "Komm gib mir deine Hand" (1971), "Junge, die Welt ist schön" (1972) and "Bora Bora" (1978). Tony Marshall stands for cheerful party hits and appearances on television shows such as ZDF-Hitparade. He also made a name for himself as an entertainer and musical performer. In 2004, he released the album Schön war die Zeit, which summarizes his greatest successes. Over the course of his career, he received numerous awards. These include the Golden Lion from Radio Luxembourg (1972) and the Golden Tuning Fork (1982, 1990). Tony Marshall dies on February 16, 2023 in Baden-Baden after a long illness.
