Born in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Tony Higuera spent years working in regional bands before launching a solo project around 2020, catching early attention with independently distributed singles such as âChipon chiponâ and âBonitaâ that introduced his mix of corridos and romantic norteño. Backed by Garmex Music, he began issuing a steady run of originals, starting with the corridos âDoble Râ and âEl Señor Miedoâ in 2023, which framed his gruff vocal style with tuba-forward bass lines and crisp bajo sexto riffs. He consolidated that momentum with his first full-length, Paâ La Plebada, in early 2024, a set that foregrounded his songwriting through standouts like âMaldita Zorra,â âSoy Gente Del Gallero,â âEl De La Paztilla,â âRigoberto Campos,â and âMomento Historico.â The pace quickened in 2025, opening with the self-assertive single âAsà Soyâ in January and the weekend anthem âAndo Pedoâ in May; summer brought his breakout drinking song âLa Pedita,â followed by the narrative corrido âMi Apa Menchoâ and the terse âQuien Es Usted,â with the patriotic âSoy Mexicanoâ arriving in September.
