Thomas Godoj, born Tomasz Jacek Godoj on March 6, 1978, in Rybnik, Poland, is a Polish-German singer and songwriter. He moved to Germany with his family in 1986 and settled in Recklinghausen. Before pursuing music full-time, Godoj completed vocational training as a technical drafter. Godoj's initial musical steps included singing in various bands such as Cure of Souls, Fluxkompensator, Tonk!, and WiNK. His breakthrough came when he participated in the fifth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) in 2008, ultimately winning the competition with 62.20% of the votes against Fady Maalouf. This victory secured him a record deal with Sony BMG. Following his win, Godoj released his debut single "Love Is You", which topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, earning a gold certification for over 150,000 sales within two weeks. His debut album Plan A! also reached Number One in Germany and Austria, achieving platinum status by October 2008. Godoj's subsequent albums include Richtung G (2009), So Gewollt (2011), and Männer Sind So (2013). Notable songs from these releases include "Nicht Allein" and "Dächer Einer Ganzen Stadt". In 2014, Godoj began financing his albums through crowdfunding, starting with V, which set a European music crowdfunding record. His subsequent works include Mundwerk (2016).
