Th' Inbred was a hardcore punk band from Morgantown, West Virginia, formed in 1984. The group aimed to incorporate a banjo into their punk sound and critiqued the punk scenes they were part of, drawing influences from Situationism and anarchism. Their first release was the EP Reproduction, issued on Frozen Sound in 1985 with a limited run of 500 copies. The band's debut studio album, A Family Affair (1986), was followed by their second and final studio album, Kissin' Cousins (1988). Th' Inbred toured extensively across the USA with acts such as Raw Power and The Rhythm Pigs, and shared stages with notable bands including Corrosion of Conformity, The Dead Kennedys, and D.R.I. Their material was reissued by Alternative Tentacles in 2009 as Legacy Of Fertility. Bob Cotter (Art Reco), the bandâs vocalist and lyricist, passed away on February 8, 2020.
