Biography

Magnapop, an American pop punk band from Atlanta, Georgia, was formed in 1989 by Linda Hopper and Ruthie Morris. Their initial lineup included Tim Lee on bass and David McNair on drums. In 1990, they played their first concert under the name Swell at Athens. They gained a significant following in Europe during the early 1990s, performing at various festivals such as Pukkelpop and Reading Festival. Their debut album Magnapop was released in June 1992. The band's second studio album, Hot Boxing, included the single "Slowly, Slowly", which reached Number 25 on the charts in September 1994. In 1995, McNair left the group due to differing lifestyles. After a hiatus, Magnapop reformed in 2003 and released Mouthfeel in January 2005. The band continued to release albums including Chase Park in September 2009.
