The Wisemen is an American hip hop ensemble from Detroit established in 2007. The group consists of the musicians Bronze Nazareth, Phillie, Salute the Kidd, Illah Dayz, June Megalodon, Lord Jessiah, and formerly Kevlaar 7. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by soulful and jazzy instrumentals and lyrics depicting life in Detroit. The ensemble was founded by Nazareth and his brother Kevlaar 7. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Wisemen Approaching (2007) released on February 27, 2007 on the label Babygrande Records. The recording achieved professional recognition for featuring the musician GZA and the musician Killah Priest. The Wisemen's discography included the studio recording Children of a Lesser God (2010) released on October 26, 2010. The recording achieved professional recognition for featuring guest appearances by the musician Raekwon and the musician Planet Asia and live instrumentation from the ensemble Project Lionheart. Kevlaar 7 died on December 23, 2014.
