Biography

The Wilson Pickers, an Australian country blues band, was formed in 2008. The group consists of Queenslanders Ben Salter, Danny Widdicombe, and Andrew Morris, along with Victorians Sime Nugent and John Bedggood. Their debut album, Land of the Powerful Owl, released in September 2008, earned them a nomination for an ARIA Award for Best Blues & Roots Album. The band's subsequent releases include Jolene (August 2009), Shake It Down (July 2010), which also garnered an ARIA nomination, and You Can’t Catch Fish From a Train (August 2016). Their live album, Live!, was recorded at the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival in 2017 and released in January 2018. The Wilson Pickers have been recognized with multiple award nominations, including the AIR Awards and Country Music Awards of Australia.
