Biography

The Real Group is a Swedish a cappella ensemble from Stockholm formed in 1984. The group was established by students at the Royal College of Music, including Anders Edenroth and Margareta Bengtson. They achieved professional recognition for their vocal arrangements and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Their recording career includes the debut studio album Debut (1987) and the studio recordings Nothing But the Real Group (1989) and Röster (1991). They collaborated with Anni-Frid Lyngstad on a vocal arrangement of the track “Dancing Queen” (1993). The ensemble has received multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, including Best Jazz Song for “Flight of the Foo-Birds” (1995) and Live Album of the Year for Live in Stockholm (1997). Their discography includes the studio recordings Elements (2017) and Friendship (2018). The current lineup consists of Clara Fornander, Joanné Pastor Nugas, Johannes Rückert Becker, Axel Berntzon, and Daniele Dees.
